Jannik Sinner secured a spot in the semi-finals of the US Open by defeating Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 5 seed, with a score of 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Wednesday night.
Sinner, who is currently ranked No 1, will be facing off against No 25 seed Jack Draper in the upcoming match on Friday.
The Italian player previously triumphed over opponents such as American Mackenzie McDonald, American Alex Michelsen, Australian Christopher O’Connell, and American Tommy Paul to reach this stage.
Medvedev, ranked No 5, made it to the quarter-finals by defeating Serb Dusan Lajovic, Hungarian Fabian Marozsan, Italian Flavio Cobolli, and Portuguese Nuno Borges in previous matches.
In other last eight results at the New York Grand Slam, Jack Draper defeated Alex De Minaur, Frances Tiafoe emerged victorious over Grigor Dimitrov, and Taylor Fritz beat Alexander Zverev.
