Karolina Muchova advanced to the semi-finals of the US Open after defeating the No 22 seed, Beatriz Haddad Maia, 6-1, 6-4 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York. Currently ranked No 52, Muchova will face the winner of the match between Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula in the next round.
In earlier matches, Muchova secured victories against Katie Volynets, Naomi Osaka, Anastasia Potapova, and Jasmine Paolini. On the other hand, Haddad Maia triumphed over Elina Avanesyan, Sara Sorribes Tormo, Anna Kalinskaya, and Caroline Wozniacki.
The US Open in New York saw other quarterfinal results, with Aryna Sabalenka defeating Qinwen Zheng, and Emma Navarro prevailing over Paula Badosa.
