In the second set, there were no break points until Muchova broke Paolini at 3-3, eventually securing her spot in the quarterfinals.
Muchova excelled in serving and at the net, winning 82% of points on her first serve and dominating at the net. Paolini struggled on her second serve, winning only 50% of points.
This marks Muchova’s fifth major quarterfinal, with her previous US Open semifinal appearance ending in defeat against Coco Gauff.
Ranked 52nd, Muchova will face the winner of the Wozniacki vs. Haddad Maia match in the next round.
Reflecting on her victory over Paolini, Muchova mentioned feeling nervous initially but managed to execute her game plan effectively.
