American Jessica Pegula advanced to the semi-finals of the US Open after defeating top seed Iga Swiatek, 6-2, 6-4 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Wednesday night. Pegula, ranked No. 6, will now face Karolina Muchova for a chance to compete in the title match.
In previous matches in New York, Pegula also secured victories against Shelby Rogers (6-4, 6-3), Sofia Kenin (7-6 (4), 6-3), Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (6-3, 6-3), and Diana Shnaider (6-4, 6-2). Swiatek’s journey to the quarterfinals included wins over Kamilla Rakhimova, Ena Shibahara, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, and Liudmila Samsonova.
