Alexei Popyrin: Everything You Should Know

Alexei Popyrin, a professional tennis player from Australia, was born on August 5, 1999, in Sydney. At the age of eight, he lived in Dubai for two years before moving to Alicante, Spain in 2010 where he became neighbors with Alex de Minaur. Popyrin gained attention by defeating Taylor Fritz at the 2023 Australian Open, leading to his rise into the top 30 players in the world. He recently won the ATP Montreal Masters 1000 by defeating Andrey Rublev in the final.

Popyrin made headlines at the 2024 US Open by defeating defending champion Novak Djokovic in the third round in a stunning upset. This win marked Djokovic’s earliest exit at the US Open and first season without a Grand Slam title since 2017.

In the 2024 Canadian Open, Popyrin won his first Masters 1000 title, defeating top-ranked players like Grigor Dimitrov and Hubert Hurkacz on his way to victory.
